How Do You Eat an Elephant?
One bite at a time.
It’s January; time for New Year’s resolutions. Is yours to lose weight? Let me suggest a slightly different way to go about it. One bite at a time.
By now, you probably know all the rules. Decrease calories eaten. Increase calories burned. Switch to whole grains. Eat 5-9 servings of fruits and vegetables. Drink 8 glasses of water daily. Decrease your sodium. And so on.
Here’s the one bite at a time idea. Pick just one dietary change or exercise goal to work on at a time. State the goal in terms of what you are going to do as opposed to what you are not going to do. For example, “I will add one more serving of fruit daily”. Work on this goal until you don’t have to think about it anymore to have it happen. Keep the goals small and simple. You can do this!
